It can be tricky to get toddlers interested in their meals, but a great way to get them invested in what they are eating is by getting them involved. Cooking and baking with your toddler not only gives them more interest in the food they are eating, but getting them actively involved has numerous benefits for them including improving their focus, attention and fine motor skills.

This healthy recipe for Little Energy Bites also doubles as a great sensory activity for your toddler!

Ingredients:
• 2 cups rolled oats
• ½ cup raisins
• 1/3 cup cranberries
• 1 tsp. orange marmalade or orange peel
• ½ cup applesauce

Start by showing your toddler how to roll up their sleeves and help them wash their hands to get ready for making their snack. Then let them help you measure out each of the ingredients and preheat your oven to
350 °F.

Take a large bowl and have your toddler put all of the ingredients in, one by one. This next part might get messy: let your toddler mix all of the ingredients together by getting their hands in the bowl and squishing everything until combined. If you find your mixture is dry, we recommend adding more applesauce.

Help your toddler roll the mixture into small balls and place onto a greased baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 350° F, or until balls are golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool, then enjoy!
