Camp Site
Set up a small tent in your home with a large sheet over a table or several chairs. Invite your child to contribute ideas about what you will need while you are “camping”. Gather these materials and role play camping with your child.
Cognitive Development
Bug Buzzers
Cut a paper towel tube in half. Invite your child to help make mosquito and fly buzzers from the paper towel tubes. Help your child secure a piece of waxed paper to one end of their tube with a rubber band. Show them how to blow through the open end of their tube to make a buzzing sound.
Language Development

After the story, discuss with your child. “What did the lady swallow first?” “What was next?” “What is too big to swallow?” Sequencing the events in a story supports your child’s literacy skills.
Physical Literacy
Run Children, Fly Mosquitoes
Create a start and finish line, either indoors or outdoors. Standing on the start line, run with your child to the finish line. Start again and this time, fly with your arms out like a mosquito or fly. Make buzzing sounds as you go. Ask your child what else you can be.
Creative Activity
Black Marks
Provide waxed paper as a canvas. Using black crayons or markers, encourage your child to make marks. This different canvas will provide a different outcome. Describe the marks your child has made. Count how many marks are on the paper.
