Spread a sheet or blanket over a table to create a “bear cave”. Toss pillows inside the cave and invite children to use this area to get away and look at books. If big enough, use the cave to read to your child. Read or tell the story of “The Three Bears”.

Calming Strategy - International Breathing
Intentional breathing strategies bring oxygen to the brain to help children focus and restore calm. Frog Street shares fun ways to get children to focus on their breathing–let’s try Bear Roaring. Demonstrate roaring like a bear. Inhale deeply and then let out a roar as you exhale. Have your child oar with you 3 or 4 times. Point out that breathing is a way to calm down when you feel upset or anxious.
Physical Literacy
Goldilocks Says
Play Goldilocks Says as you would play Simon Says. Remind children that they can not perform the action unless the caller first says, “Goldilocks says . . . “ Give commands like jump, hop, balance on one foot, etc.

Building a Cottage
Build a cottage for the Three Bears with blocks and boxes. Build along with your child. Suggest things that need to be in the house, such as a table, chairs and beds. Challenge older children to count the items in the house to include three of everything.
