Stress can lead to inappropriate behavior and can interfere with your child’s ability to learn. Frog Street incorporates fun deep breathing activities that help disengage this stress response. Try the Balloon with your child. It can be helpful for you, too. Balloon—Place your hands on your head and interlock your fingers. Breathe in deeply and raise your hands over your head like your air is filling up a balloon. Sniff in more air. Sniff in one more time. Then let the air out as you drop your hands back down to your head. Make a “pppppbbbbb” sound as the air empties from the pretend balloon. Repeat.
Cognitive Development
Bridges, Tunnels and Ramps-collect recycled material, craft sticks or strips of cardboard, paper, blocks, tape, glue, cars or balls. Encourage your child to create bridges, tunnels or ramps for their toy cars or balls. They can experiment with different designs.
Physical Literacy
Balancing Act
Have your child balance a bean bag, small stuffie or rolled up socks on their head. Your child can try to walk from one end of the room to the other without dropping the bean bag. For variety: walk backwards, try different items, go faster, step over blocks or boxes, balance it on other body parts.
Language Development
Reminisce with your child about a day trip or vacation you enjoyed together and what transportation you used to get there. Look at pictures if you have some. Then have your child draw a picture of a memory from the trip. If your child wants you to, you can write the story that your child tells you about their picture.
Creative Activity
Use a large empty box or laundry basket to create a pretend car, bus, train or boat. Your child can decorate as they like. An empty paper towel tube can be used as an oar if you choose to make a boat. https://nurturestore.co.uk/be-a-sailor-make-a-boat
