Mother’s Day Craft: Tissue Paper Suncatchers!

BrightPath > Learning at Home > Recreational Activities > Mother's Day Craft: Tissue Paper Suncatchers!
suncatcher

This Tissue Paper Suncatcher activity is a great way for kids to show Mom just how much they love her! You will need the following supplies:

  • Tissue paper in various colours (cut into small pieces)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • White glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Wax paper
  • Double-sided tape

On your wax paper, draw out the shapes you would like your suncatchers to be, hearts are a great one for Mother’s Day!

Then, dilute some white glue with water to thin it out and use a paintbrush to paint glue onto your tissue paper. Stick your pieces of tissue paper together onto your wax paper shape. Don’t worry about neatness or tissue paper going over the lines, we’re going to cut out our shape next!

Once the glue has dried, cut out your shapes! Once you have your shapes all together, carefully peel the wax paper off of each shape so that they are more translucent when the sun hits them!

Next, stick some double-sided tape to your shapes and find a place to hang them on a window and surprise mom with the lovely colours that come through your window!
