What Sets Us Apart

Our award-winning curriculum was formed through in-depth research into early childhood learning and development. A blend of play-based (Frog Street) and child-led (Emergent) curriculums, all activities are hands-on, child-guided and exceed provincial early learning frameworks.

Our dedicated and passionate early childhood educators deliver an innovative, engaging and proven curriculum that ignites a love of learning and inspires and encourages individuality in every BrightPath child. Their nurturing and attentive approach offers each child a home-away-from-home experience.

Two-way communication is important. Monthly newsletters, curriculum nights, parent interviews, open houses and our proprietary app (BrightPath Connect™) are designed to increase the interaction between our centres and families.

Children need nutrition to grow in both mind and body. Believing that food choices throughout childhood fuel life long eating habits, our menu is crafted by a Registered Nutritionist and prepared in-house daily and reflects those beliefs.

About The Centre

BrightPath Whitehorn is situated on the corner of 36th Street and Whitehorn Drive. About a block away from the Whitehorn CTrain station and close to a number of bus routes, the centre is an ideal location for drop off and pick up for commuting parents.

The centre offers 80 spots for child care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and before and after school care for those aged 6 to 12 years and is fully licensed and accredited. Right on the corner lot, the first any visitor sees is the centre’s large L-shaped outdoor play area that wraps tightly around the centre. Divided into three spaces, all age groups are able to play, discover and learn in age-appropriate settings stocked with learning materials that assist with development for all ages and stages.

BrightPath Whitehorn is particularly proud of its very experienced and long-term group of early childhood educators.
Most of the staff have been with the centre for more than ten years, and in the child care industry even longer, creating a consistent environment that is very supportive of its children, families and team. Ask them about any parenting questions or issues you might have, and the staff are more than willing to provide advice or work alongside you to resolve them.

Meet The Centre Director

Dawnn has worked in the childcare field for over 26 years and joined BrightPath in 2010 where she became the Director at our Chestermere Centre in 2015. Dawnn completed her Early Childhood Education Diploma at Mount Royal University and Bow Valley College in 1994 and earned a Children’s Mental Health Certificate from Mount Royal University in 2003. With a hunger for learning, Dawnn went back to school in 2006 and completed her Human Resources Certificate, Business Administration Certificate, Administration Assistant for Small Businesses Certificate, Word Processing Certificate, and Business Computer Certificate at Bow Valley College, completing all by 2008. Dawnn is now the Director of the Whitehorn Centre.

Dawnn’s favourite part about being a BrightPath Director is observing the children’s growth and development while under her care at the Centre. She enjoys supporting families while working alongside the educators and being a role model for them. One aspect of the role that Dawnn truly believes in is making sure that all of the children are enjoying their childhood to the fullest and have fun while doing it. In 2005 the City of Calgary awarded Dawnn two Before and After school childcare awards while in 2007 she received one from the province of Alberta.

Whether travelling for leisure or heading to her son’s next hockey tournament, Dawnn loves to spend time with her husband and ten year old son. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and cooking for family and friends.
