Sherwood Park, AB

What Sets Us Apart

Our award-winning curriculum was formed through in-depth research into early childhood learning and development. A blend of play-based (Frog Street) and child-led (Emergent) curriculums, all activities are hands-on, child-guided and exceed provincial early learning frameworks.

Our dedicated and passionate early childhood educators deliver an innovative, engaging and proven curriculum that ignites a love of learning and inspires and encourages individuality in every BrightPath child. Their nurturing and attentive approach offers each child a home-away-from-home experience.

Two-way communication is important. Monthly newsletters, curriculum nights, parent interviews, open houses and our proprietary app (BrightPath Connect™) are designed to increase the interaction between our centres and families.

Children need nutrition to grow in both mind and body. Believing that food choices throughout childhood fuel life long eating habits, our menu is crafted by a Registered Nutritionist and prepared in-house daily and reflects those beliefs.

About The Centre

BrightPath Sherwood Park is situated just off Broadmoor Boulevard on Main Boulevard across from Madonna Catholic School and right by the traffic circle.

The centre provides child care for 6-week to 5-year olds and before and after school care for 6 to 12-year olds. At 191 licensed and accredited spaces, the centre provides multiple classrooms for each age group and offers a number of additional amenities compared to smaller centres. The indoor gym provides a space for all age groups to play in inclement weather so when the outdoor areas cannot be used due to rain or severe temperatures, there is still a place to run and expend extra energy. This space also allows the centre to run extra-curricular recreational programming such as dance, karate and sports jam throughout most of the year. The big, commercial kitchen provides the ideal space for the chef to prepare all meals and snacks fresh onsite daily. Finally, the outdoor play yards offer space to learn and explore in safe, age-appropriate environments.

BrightPath Sherwood Park emphasises teamwork and is very proud of its team of long-term staff. With a passion for child care, the early childhood educators support each other and create an environment that allows for consistency in care and an overall sense of calm in the centre.

Meet The Centre Director

Fungayi graduated from Ontario’s Ryerson University in 2005 with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and has been working in child care ever since. She joined the BrightPath family in 2015 and is now the Director of the Sherwood Park Centre.

Fungayi’s favourite part of being a BrightPath Director is that she has the opportunity to engage with parents and participate in the development of the children as well as the staff in her centre. She realizes that being a Director comes with a few challenges however Fungayi looks forward to making a difference in the lives of children.

Fungayi was born and raised in Zimbabwe and can speak and read Shona (her mother language) and English. Relocating to Canada in 2001 and then moving to Alberta in 2014, Fungayi has since graduated with her Masters in Early Childhood Studies.
