BrightPath Southwood East Childcare Centre
Overview
Situated on Sacramento Drive, the centre is easily accessed from Southland Drive near the Southland CTrain station as well as Elbow Drive. Located in a quiet and established neighbourhood, the centre provides great access to commuting parents while still offering a sense of being part of an intimate community.
The centre offers 80 child care spaces to children aged 7 months to 6 years and is both licensed and accredited. Its main differentiating feature is all of the varied outdoor spaces that the centre has access to and makes regular use of. The outdoor play yard is dominated by seven mature trees that provide a lot of natural shade and protection from the elements. Divided into an infant space and a toddler/preschool space, the outdoor playgrounds are stocked with age-appropriate learning equipment that include such fun elements as a Safari car. Located across from a large green space, the centre also provides summer programs such as Happy Feet Preschool Soccer to allow for even more opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while learning and having fun!
BrightPath Southwood East is a sister location to BrightPath Southwood, located just minutes away on Elbow Drive. BrightPath Southwood offers care to children up to 12 years old and provides an option for child care and out of school care after children age out of Southwood East.

Centre Director
Marla has worked in the childcare field for over 8 years and joined the BrightPath team in 2012. Having an educational background in the Human Service field, Marla is currently enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program at Bow Valley College.
Marla’s favourite part about being a BrightPath Director is observing the children’s growth and development at the Centre. She is especially appreciating the evolving relationships with children, parents and the amazing staff. One aspect of the role that Marla really enjoys is the camaraderie between other Directors resulting in support and new ideas for her Centre.
Being originally from Newfoundland, Marla relocated to Calgary in 2012. In her spare time, Marla enjoys reading, watching movies, shopping and spending time with friends and family. Additionally, she loves to travel, go on long walks and enjoys the outdoors whenever she can.
