Sabrina Rehman

Area Manager

Sabrina always knew she wanted a career that would have a lasting impact on her community and world. Engineering came as a natural choice because the way she sees it, engineers and their practices have been encouraged for one paramount reason: benefiting humankind. As an engineer from Carleton University, she became involved in a research and development project related to improving children’s access to early education in developing countries. Through this experience, she saw firsthand the impact early years have on the whole lives of children. She knew then that she had met her passion and wanted to be part of something this extraordinary.

She went on to complete a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Loyalist College in Bellville, Ontario. As an Engineer turned Educator, over the past eight years, she has worked to pioneer a holistic STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) curriculum for the BrightPath programs that she oversee as Area Manager.

In today’s world, we as parents and educators know that future citizens of our global society will require skills to contribute to creative solutions, sustainable development and a peaceful world. Children are natural born experts, eager to explore and modify the world around them. This makes early years a most opportune period to immerse children with problem-solving, teamwork and creative thinking.

Sabrina feels thrilled to be a part of programs where children are empowered to lead their own learning and make a positive difference in their community and world right from a young age!

She is also a lucky parent to delightful three-year-old twins who have flourished in the LSM programs from 12 months of age. Sabrina’s education and experience have been integral to her role but it is the parent in her that inspires her to foster environments with an aim to develop the mind, nurture the body and inspire the soul!

Mona Khan

LSM Schools Director

Mona has enjoyed being in the education field for over 25 years as a Registered Early Childhood Educator. Since 2003, she has been privileged to start up and direct operations at Little Scholars Montessori. LSM programs have continued to grow and now has four Ottawa locations serving hundreds of families each year.

Mona strongly believes that quality early education is a work in progress. Her and her team participate in continuous professional development to broaden their knowledge with the latest research and development in the early years field. She sees it as an ongoing journey to observe, reflect and adapt their approaches and environments towards excellence.

In 2014, she was recognized with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence (PMA). This award honors the top five early years educators across Canada. Being awarded the PMA has been a great honor because the nomination came directly from families and educators that have experienced the LSM programs. It has inspired her to continue to evolve LSM into the best it can be!

To Mona, being an educator is not a job – it is a calling. Every child needs a special guide in his/her self-led journey of learning. Mona feels so privileged to be a part of the lives of so many young children during their most lasting developmental periods.

It is delightful to know that every year the LSM program grows into a place where more and more children can grow and flourish within an engaging environment. She is most proud of the achievements and strides made by children that can be attributed to the LSM programs.

Each year at graduation, her and her team are filled with pride as their children demonstrate what they have learned through their years at LSM. Knowing that they have fostered healthy relationships, a high self-esteem and a strong skill set for them to tackle future challenges makes every effort worthwhile!

Mona deeply appreciates the daily trust the families place in the LSM team as they strive to make every child’s most formative years happy, safe, loving, challenging and exciting!

What Sets Us Apart

Our curriculum is based on the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori. The Montessori method centers on self-directed activity, collaborative play and individual development. By presenting children with the power of choice, we help instil in them a strong sense of self, a desire to learn and a natural self-discipline.

Our early childhood educators are committed to implementing our Montessori curriculum in a supportive and positive environment, nurturing a lifelong love of learning. With a strong foundation of education and experience, our staff help foster each child’s individuality and create a home-away-from-home experience.

We firmly believe in open, two-way communication between parents and our centres. In addition to quarterly newsletters, open houses, monthly observation summaries, parent evenings and our open-door policy for parents, we also offer our proprietary app, BrightPath Connect™, to help keep you up-to-date on your child’s progress.

Your child’s brain and body need fuel to learn and grow. We have partnered with a Registered Nutritionist to create a menu that helps establish healthy eating habits in your child and allows them to thrive. Every day, your child receives two snacks and a hot lunch, all prepared in-house from fresh ingredients.
