Community Connections

Contributing To Our Community

Little Scholars Montessori believes that being a contributing member of society is paramount. By fostering connections to the communities around them, LSM teaches children the importance of helping others and making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

LSM’s group of educators are also proud innovators in early learning and have the awards and accolades to show for it. They are always striving to incorporate new ideas into the way they teach and are continually contributing to moving early childhood education to the next level.

City of Ottawa Child Care Registry and Waitlist

One HSN, is the centralized application and registry portal for all families seeking licensed child care programs within the City of Ottawa. By completing one application, a family can register itself for as many child care options it wishes and the centralized system will inform them when a space becomes available at one of the chosen centres. Subsidy applications are also routed through this system.

Ottawa Toy Mountain

The Ottawa Toy Mountain is an annual Christmas campaign headed by CTV and the Salvation Army and builds a mountain of toys to provide help and hope to families struggling to make ends meet in the Ottawa Region. Little Scholars Montessori participates each year by collecting new or gently used toys in their own toy drive and then delivering them to the collection bins.

What Sets Us Apart

Our curriculum is based on the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori. The Montessori method centers on self-directed activity, collaborative play and individual development. By presenting children with the power of choice, we help instil in them a strong sense of self, a desire to learn and a natural self-discipline.

Our early childhood educators are committed to implementing our Montessori curriculum in a supportive and positive environment, nurturing a lifelong love of learning. With a strong foundation of education and experience, our staff help foster each child’s individuality and create a home-away-from-home experience.

We firmly believe in open, two-way communication between parents and our centres. In addition to quarterly newsletters, open houses, monthly observation summaries, parent evenings and our open-door policy for parents, we also offer our proprietary app, BrightPath Connect™, to help keep you up-to-date on your child’s progress.

Your child’s brain and body need fuel to learn and grow. We have partnered with a Registered Nutritionist to create a menu that helps establish healthy eating habits in your child and allows them to thrive. Every day, your child receives two snacks and a hot lunch, all prepared in-house from fresh ingredients.
